Cookie Help Page

The members area of this website uses "cookies" to control user access. The default settings for most browsers prevent these cookies from working, and you may also find that if you receive automated Windows updates any changes you make to enable access to the members area may subsequently revert to the default settings.

Below are instructions for both Internet Explorer 5 and 6 to enable proper cookie handling for the website. The principle will be the same for other browsers.

Essentially you need to override the default cookie handling on your PC, which is not to allow cookies at all if you have the highest Internet security settings applied, but only for the sites you explicitly trust - in this case this website.

The most direct way to do this, but not necessarily the easiest, is to edit the privacy settings within the browser software. In the case of Internet Explorer 6 the steps would be as follows:

  • On the Explorer toolbar go to Tools > Internet Options > Privacy;
  • Hit the Edit button to override cookie handling for individual websites;
  • Enter the address (this website) and hit Allow;
  • Hit OK twice to exit the setup screens.

A slightly easier way to achieve the above is to temporarily allow cookie handling globally (ie. for any website), load this website and log in, tell your browser not to prompt you again for this site, and then change your global cookie handling back to the default settings.

The instructions for Internet Explorer 5 and 6 are below:

Internet Explorer 5

  • On the Explorer toolbar go to Tools > Internet Options > Security;
  • Select the Internet Zone (the one with the globe symbol) and hit Custom Level;
  • Scroll down to the Cookies entries and tick the two "Prompt" boxes for allowing cookies on your PC and allowing per session cookies;
  • Hit OK to save and OK to leave Internet Options;
  • Load this website and log in to the partners area;
  • You will see a popup cookies window which has a checkbox labelled "don't prompt me again" and you should tick this box;
  • Once you have done the above, you can reset the global cookie handling back to the default settings;
  • On the Explorer toolbar go to Tools > Internet Options > Security;
  • Select the Internet Zone (the one with the globe symbol) and hit Default Level;
  • Hit OK to leave Internet Options.

Internet Explorer 6

  • On the Explorer toolbar go to Tools > Internet Options > Privacy;
  • Click on the Advanced button in the "Settings" area;
  • Tick "Override Automatic Cookie Handling", and then tick the two "Prompt" boxes for 1st & 3rd party cookies;
  • Hit OK to save and OK to leave Internet Options;
  • Load this website and log in to the partners area;
  • You will see a popup cookies window which has a checkbox labelled "don't prompt me again" and you should tick this box;
  • Once you have done the above, you can reset the global cookie handling back to the default settings;
  • On the Explorer toolbar go to Tools > Internet Options > Privacy;
  • Click on the Advanced button in the "Settings" area;
  • Untick "Override Automatic Cookie Handling";
  • Hit OK to save and OK to leave Internet Options.
