Developing Your Skills

At CALC, we run a comprehensive programme of training aimed at supporting the core work of Clerks, Councillors and Chairs. Our training and development events programme has something for everyone, whether you are a clerk or councillor and relatively new to the job or an old hand

Our policy is to make training as accessible as possible and since 2020 we have developed and arranged a suite of virtual training sessions. Costs have been kept as low as possible to ensure affordability.

All training sessions will be delivered virtually unless specified.

Our new Training & Development Events Programme ‘Developing your Skills’ can be accessed below along with Steve Parkinson finance training dates.

If you or any of your members would like to participate then please email calc@cumbria.gov.uk to check course availability, register and reserve a place. Prior to the session you will receive confirmation of your successful booking and joining instructions for the Teams session. Please let us know the delegate name, parish council and email address, and to where the invoice should be sent to.

We can also offer bespoke training sessions – please get in touch with Rachael and we can discuss your requirements.

Cancellations

We understand that life sometimes catches us out and if you need to cancel your place we will always try to be sympathetic in our approach. However, generally we will still charge your council for your place if you do not notify us within 7 working days prior to the event. If you cancel more than one day but less than 7 days before the course, you will be charged 50% of the course fee. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the course or do not attend, you will be charged the full amount.

Feedback

As always, please let us have your views on the programme, or contact us if you would like to talk more generally about your training and development needs, please email us at office@calc.org.uk
